How to Successfully Navigate Organisational Transformation: A Guide for Leaders

Why self-reflection is the magic ingredient to sustain engagement, motivation and performance.

By now, we have all heard about how "The great resignation" is acting as catalyst for change within the organisation.

Time is mature to press the "reset" button, to re-energise and re-engage your people by sparking self-reflection as a means towards the creation of a culture where people connect to the company's journey from a place of inner motivation, bringing to light what drives them, what makes them do what they do and ensure they can fully show up as themselves to enjoy the work they do.

Listening deeply to your people, sets the stage for approaching internal change from a place of openness, transparency and clarity which will lead to solving internal challenges and emerging change creatively and collaboratively, ultimately elevating trust across the organisation.

How to foster a culture where space for self-reflection is embraced at any level within the organisation ?

  • Iteration is the friend to any new habit formation; to shift from default modalities or autopilot, and see the world through new lenses, we need to train our mind in identifying old patterns of behaviours that hinder progress, innovation and growth for an inner shift to occur;

How to create the dimension for organisational transformation to manifest ?

  • Be "intentional" about the structure, frequency and the timing of these meetings: Schedule and set aside time for your team to come together with clarity on the purpose of gathering and the expected outcomes;

  • Set the tone for the conversation, by encouraging and welcoming everybody's ideas to the challenge at hand, to ensure a real collaborative process takes place so that each person will leave the meeting with a sense of empowerment no matter the outcome;

  • Be curious and remain open to "receive" the messages being shared. Facilitate dialogue by engaging with each person, asking questions about progress as well as pain points, inviting views-in to readdress them;

  • Think like a "growth-enabler" Pro: This will foster engagement amongst people, who will feel safe enough to share with the group for the shared benefit of the rest of the team;

  • Repeat, repeat, repeat: By engaging on regular meetings for deeper listening in a space where innovation, collaboration and creativity flourish, you will fuel sustainable positive "change by design";

Consciously crafting space for you as leader to stop and reflect, will ultimately offer the same opportunities to your people and teams.
